So far, so good.We appreciate that there are Linux drivers for most Brother printers. We use Linux (Ubuntu) and we decide what hardware to buy based on whether or not the company supports Linux OS. We haven't had the machine but a few weeks and used a few times, but the images look great and it prints fast.
Good quality, worked fine right out of the boxBrother HL4150CDN Color Laser Printer
I've had the printer for a month.
Very nice quality color & B&W printing, reasonable speed.
The printer must be on absolutely flat surface that all 4 of its feet can rest on. Any unevenness can result in poor color registration, i.e. the edges of each color will not align with the other colors on a printed page.
For high quality you need to use the 2400 dpi option.
After about 600 color pages and 1000 B&W pages all 4 toner cartridges are at the 25% level. This is my first color laser printer but that seems like pretty pricy ink usage at $84 per replacement cartridge or $346 for a full set.
Use the LCD panel to print out Printer Settings to see the ink levels in each cartridge.
Great unit, Highly RecommendedI purchased this printer a month ago at a cost of $278, mainly because the cost of replacement cartridges for my HP2600n was $330. The printer is quite big and a bit noisy but you must expect some noise when working with laser printers. On the upside it is very fast...really fast compared with the HP2600. The toner the printer came with allowed me to do 2,000+ color copies and it is still going. So instead of purchasing toner for an old printer, I got a whole new faster printer to produce more copies than the $330 toner would have yielded. Win Win I say
I have since purchased the high yield toner that is expected to produce 3,500 copies for Y,C and M and 6,000 for black. After 2,000 copies I have no issues, I will update this review as time permits to guide shoppers in the future
The same consistently solid performance that I've come to expect from BrotherI've only had the printer for a month now, but have run several large jobs on it, including several duplex ones, as well as all of my daily printing needs. Like the other Brothers printers that I have owned previously and currently -- two B&W laser, one all-in-1 ink jet -- it works like a champ without problem. For an inexpensive color laser printer, it has excellent print quality (in spite of the complaints that I have seen) and was simple to set up and to operate. Good controls software when I need to use it (not often), and very reliable performance. After a bad experience with an HP laser printer (they used to know how to make great, durable printers; I don't know what happened), I got a Brother and have been thrilled with the results. I didn't see the value of spending another $100 on the wireless option, so this machine fits my needs, and my budget, perfectly
Excellent Printer at Bargain PriceI've been using this printer now for a few weeks, and I'm impressed! Working in IT support for an organization with numerous printers--the majority of which are HP--I've had a chance to judge the output of HP color printers extensively, and this Brother printer outshines them easily. When you consider the printer's low cost and it's competitive toner replacement expenses, I'm convinced you won't find a better deal. I've given up on inkjet printers because of the ink expenses and problems with cartridges drying out quickly before being expended, and I was looking for a color printer with super output at a reasonable price. Having owned a Brother black and white laser for many years and loving it, I figured I'd give this Brother color printer a test drive. It was a good decision. I have no complaints.
works wellI thought it was a good deal and it works well, be advised: they should give it away for what the cartridges cost, the first set of replacement cartridges (I have not needed them yet and I bought high yield)(requires 4) bought directly from Brother (less expensive than Amazon) cost almost twice as much as the printer
Ink Jet ReplacementGot tired of buying $25 of ink every month and a new printer every couple of years. So far this thing is great as it should be for the price. One month in we haven't made a dent in the ink cartridge. Only time will tell if this is really worth the extra $$ over a crappy HP Deskjet but so far so good.
LOVE ITI LOVE THE PRINTER. EASY TO USE, GOOD QUALITY & VERY GOOD SPEED. I HAVE A NEWLY BROKEN WRIST & STILL EVERYTHING IS EASY TO DO!!
Excellent PrinterI waited until I had this printer for three months before posting this review. I hoped I would be able to say I chose a very good printer. I did better than that. I chose an excellent printer. It is attractive, quick to wake up and print. The printing is excellent. It is quite. I use it connected wirelessly to a router. We have multiple personal computers that access it. This is the best feature. The next best is the duplex printing. Never had a printer that had this feature. It really saves paper. The only slightly critical comment is that the paper tends to curl just after printing. This is not a problem for me though. I would highly recommend this printer to anyone considering it.
Great Color Laser PrinterAlways had great luck with the Brother model printers after becoming a very unhappy and frustrated HP printer owner. We upgraded from the Brother 2140 which only printed in B&W(but we loved it! excellent choice if you don't need color. We are very pleased so far, we have owned it for a month or two, still fast and crisp. The color is a great added feature, and we still haven't changed out the demo cartridges yet. We havent did any actual pictures yet, but is great for standard documents you need done in color.
