A great printer for the money. We have had several Brother laser printers and have been happy with each one. This printer does the job well. Easy to set up and use. Reliable. I would recommend this printer.
Worried about some of the critical reviews, but everything works great!(1) Connecting the printer to our router was straightforward given the simple one-touch WPS connection option. (Literally press a button on the printer & press a button on the router, and the two devices pair automatically - no need to enter passwords or encryption keys).
(2) Printer *does* go into deep sleep mode when connected via wireless.
(3) Print quality is great & we don't find it to be too noisy.
Love WirelessI have received this product yesterday. It came on time, and it was easy to set and install. I love to print and scan documents from my laptops.I would recommend this product.
High PriceHad to get a AIO since the old HP died - the scanner stopped working -
The MFC 7860DW works extremely well. Had problems scanning through Paperport, but manage to resolve it.
Bought it too early. Newegg and Brother has a special on a couple of weeks after I bought it for below $ 200.00 and I had to pay $ 250.00 for this printer. Bummer.
As always, Amazon was excellent in its delivery. Received the merchandise in a couple of days, and had it working immediately.
Would recommend this printer, especially if it below $ 200.00.
Unable to connect wirelessI had very high hopes for this printer based on other reviews. Printer arrived quickly (next day) and I was eager to set up. Followed wireless setup instructions to the letter, both via printer control panel and via USB. Continued to receive "Connection Fail" reports claiming my password was incorrect. The password is ON my router--I quintuple checked it. Not to mention I have three laptops, two iPhones, and an iPad all connected wirelessly without issue....so I'm pretty sure I know how to input the password. After over FOUR HOURS of trying to get this set up, it went back in the box and is being returned. I'm extremely disappointed.
It should be noted I did some research and apparently there are numerous and continued issues trying hook up Brother machines wirelessly for customers of Verizon FiOS. I wish I knew this beforehand and saved myself the cost of shipping it back.
In the repeated "CONNECTION FAIL" printouts, the print quality and speed seemed decent. Really wish this would have worked for me.
Excellent Wireless FunctionalityThe wireless functionality is outstanding. Of course it can perform all of the basic print functions from any of the many computers and lap tops in my house, but I can also scan wirelessly to any one of the computers logged into my router (I have a Netgear N600) and it gives me the option to scan to the computer of my choice so long as that computer is logged into the router. This is a feature I have been unable to find in previous printer generations.
I was tempted to give it 5 stars, but other customer complaints regarding a noisy fan are real. The fan only runs for a brief time following a fax/copy and then stops, so even if you keep it in a bedroom, it is not really a problem. The copy and print quality is excellent. The copy print scan and multiple sheet capabilities are also excellent.
I recommend this printer without reservation.
Brother Wireless All-in-ONEI am very pleased with the performance of this product. I read the reviews about it being noisy after it finishes printing, but the noise is negligible. I do not even notice it.
I did buy the wireless model, but had to wire it into the computer that I used the most due to distance from my wireless router. The instructions said that it worked better wired in. I could have saved $50 buy not buying wireless, but it was not worth the time and trouble to return it.
I also LOVED the dual sided printing, but it does take a little bit to find the command to get it to print duplex. No problems with the scanner or fax.
I hope that it holds up as well as the other reviews have said, because I am looking forward to years of service.
Technology is disposable...This machine is perfect for my small business needs. It replaces a similar Brother machine which I purchased years ago, and for which the cost of a replacement drum was 25% higher than buying a whole new machine. Go figure...
Flimsy plastic partsWhen you first unpack the printer, make sure to open up the machine to remove all the packaging tape. Set up was easy in Windows 7, just follow all the instruction when loading the printer software. I agree with most the technical points written by other reviewers. However, I found that the fan noise generated when the printer is in the wireless mode is not that loud, although the fan is constantly on. Also, the plastic hinges on the automatic document feeder and supports are very flimsy, the plastic pin may break eventually. I recommend that all moving parts are gently handled. If you also use an inkjet printer, set the Brother MFC7860 as your default printer (when printing in black and white) as the toner cartridge cost much less and yield more pages than black inkjet cartridges.
Great valueAfter having two Canon multifunction units fail in three years,
I went with $200 Brother unit. It was easy to set up, and wireless
connection was a snap. The copier is fast, and print quality is good.
The "footprint" of this machine is small, and the Brother is a good
choice for a home or small business.
