What is JavaScript?
JavaScript is a programming language that is mostly used in web pages, usually to add features that make the web page more interactive.
Most of today's Web pages require JavaScript in order to function properly.
If JavaScript is disabled in your Web browser some Web pages will not function properly.
How to Enable JavaScript in Your Browser
The following instructions describe how to enable JavaScript in your browser.
Internet Explorer 7
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Click on the Tools button (the picture of the gear) or "Tools" from the program menu.
- Click on Internet Options.
- Click the Security tab.
- In the "Security level for this zone" box, click on Custom level.
- Scroll toward the bottom of the Settings box to Scripting.
- Enable active scripting.
- Click OK twice to close the dialogue.
- Click the Refresh button after the Address Bar at the top of your browser, or hit F5.
Internet Explorer 6.X
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
- In Internet Options dialog box select the Security tab.
- Click Custom level button at bottom. The Security settings dialog box will pop up.
- Under Scripting category enable Active Scripting, Allow paste options via script and Scripting of Java applets
- Click OK twice to close out.
- Hit Refresh.
Mozilla Firefox 1.5 & 2
- Open Firefox.
- Click on the Tools menu.
- Select Options.
- Click the Content tab with the Earth graphic.
- Check Enable JavaScript.
- Click OK.
- Click Reload or hit F5.
Safari 2.0.3
- Open Safari
- From the top menu, click "Safari > Preferences...".
- Click the "Security" icon.
- Check "Enable JavaScript".
- Close Preferences box.
Safari 1.0
- Select Safari from the top menu.
- Choose Preferences.
- Choose Security.
- Select the checkbox next to Enable JavaScript.
Netscape 8.1
- Open Netscape
- From the top menu, click "Tools > Options".
- Click the "Site Controls" icon.
- Click "I Trust This Site" under the Master Settings and then click "Enable JavaScript".
- Click "OK".
Netscape 7.X
- Open Netscape.
- Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
- Click the arrow next to Advanced.
- Click Scripts & Plugins.
- Check Navigator beneath "Enable Javascript for".
- Click OK.
- Click Reload.
Netscape 6.X for Mac OS X
- Open Netscape.
- Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
- Click Advanced
- Check both Enable Java and Enable JavaScript for Navigator
- Click OK.
- Click Reload.
Opera 8 & 9
- In Opera click on the "Tools" menu
- Select "Preferences".
- Click on the "Advanced" tab
- Click on the "Content" option
- Check the "Enable JavaScript" checkbox
- Finally click on the "OK" button.
- Click Reload or hit F5.
