HP Laserjet P1505n
Laserjet P1505n Toner Cartridges

Great PrinterThis is BY FAR the best laser printer that I have ever even SEEN, let alone, had the honor of owning... The print speed has got to be the fastest in the industry -- I can't imagine shooting out a document any faster (maybe when we get to 'the future' & stuff comes out based solely on our 'thinking it'... that would be cool...)
The other thing I LOVE about it is the small footprint it offers, and how when the paper trays are all folded up, it's very small & compact. I use it for high-volume sessions, less than ten times a year, and I have not had a single paper jam & miss-print yet (knock on wood). I love this printer so much that I suggested it to a friend in my same field & he got it as well, and no problems with his unit either...
Thanks HP!!
Not happy. Doesn't work in a remote desktop environmentWe installed this printer on a client that is using remote desktop to connect to Win 2003 terminal server. This printer will not work in this environment. I have worked with HP and searched their internal community boards and have found many other users with similar problems. It appears this printer won't even work in a LAN environment. I would avoid it if you need to network it.
SO NEW-SO FAR-SO GOODOkay, so I bought this printer today, August 3 rd., 2009, from STAPLES @ $ 175.00, after researching absolutely every single available BnW printer available, from the cheapest to those @ $ 300.00. There isn't a single one that doesn't come with its list of complaints and I WISH that HP, CANON, EPSON, BROTHER and XEROX would be honourable and make a printer that will last and just DO what it's supposed to.
BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING other than remove your printer from the box, look at the CD because it will tell you exactly what has to be removed first,{ you'll have to remove the cover and the cartridge, which I found to be frightful at first, but fear not as it seems to be well designed for those of us who can be clumsey or nervous about some such mechanical things. DO grab the cartridge gently on each side using two hands and NOT in the center as you may damage it !}
...and DO NOT PLUG YOUR USB CABLE IN UNTIL THE CD TELLS YOU TO !!!
I did study WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL ADVANCED and scored 98%. Still, it did take me TWO hours to set up this printer because I learned it is CRUCIAL to download the latest driver/software from HP. This took awhile and I suggest one READS the directions PRIOR to simply clicking "DOWNLOAD ONLY" on their website. I'm still unclear as to deleting the "EXE" file...and have been looking for it, as per directions. AAARGH. At this point I'm guessing..and I don't like that.
Anyhow, this printer has now printed it's first page "WINDOWS XP PRINTER TEST PAGE". It was incredibly SPEEDY. I must say, that impressed me. The colour is very very black and I also love that. The print is ALMOST perfectly aligned, but the slant very well may be my OWN paper loading ineptitude at this point.
The tray that fits over the paper is ridiculous as it sits flimsy and doesn't snap in anywhere, nor does it have a solid footing. I don't get it ? If I accidentally knock it off, it'll definitely snap somewhere if it hits the floor. I'll be careful about the stupid thing.
In this day and age, I would also expect the machine to NOT sound so stunningly loud. But, okay...it isn't like a jet plane or anything. It's within standards I can live with. I just think HP could probably easily create a quiet machine, for crying out loud !
Finally, if this thing is SO GREAT, then WHY is it listed at $ 320.00 and purchasable at STAPLES for almost HALF that ? It's all some silly financial game. The thing is probably worth even less than what I paid, but I am content so far.
I promise to update my review after I've used this sucker for awhile. I think it's important to be honest about these products so that consumers can STOP getting screwed. THANK GOD for AMAZON for allowing us to do this !
I had an EPSON RX600 ALL IN ONE and the ON button simply wouldn't work anymore, when everything else was FINE with the darnedable thing. I swore I would NEVER get an ALL IN ONE again and lose everything in one fell swoop again. I also rarely used the colours and, like others felt SCREWED by EPSON ink prices. It used ALL the inks even when I only printed BnW. I'm hoping this proves to be more reasonable and I'll do my colour printing through [...]. They do a beautiful job, quickly and cheaply. I will buy an EPSON scanner separately as they are quite good.
Shop aroundJust a quick note -- this is at BestBuy for under one-hundred dollars FYI. GREAT laser printer - we have printer over 6,000 pages already without replacing the toner cartridge. I also like when purchasing a new cartidge, EVERYTHING in it is new. Like getting a new printer. Shop around. Sometimes the HP website has automatic instant rebates.
Not for MacsI would avoid this printer if you're using a Mac...the performance is very inconsistent. Sometimes it would work, a lot of times it wouldn't.
However, when it did work, I found the printer to be great...quick, quality prints. If you're using a PC, this is a good little printer.
I've since replaced the HP with a Brother HL-2170W, which works perfectly and, most importantly, all the time.
Think twice before buying through amazonI have been pleased with the performance of the HP LaserJet P1505 so far. It prints quickly, clearly and was easy to set up. My problem has been with Amazon. While this printer can be purchased more cheaply through other online sellers, I selected the Amazon option which described the P1505N as 'in stock' and with estimated delivery in 2-5 days. I also opted for a trial of 2 day delivery. Speed was of the essence as I had an important job presentation coming up and needed to print relevant documents professionally at home. At the check-out on 14 January I was given an estmated delivery date of 22 or 23 January. On 23 January there was no sign of the printer, nor had I received any emails notifying me of a delay. I tracked my order only to discover that it had not been shipped yet. The tracking screen instructed me that I had to reconfirm my order for a later delivery by 20 January-- a date which had passed-- to receive my printer. The product had obviously not been in stock after all. At this point I was still hopeful that the Amazon option would arrive before my presentation so I reconfirmed. Subsequently I received an email to say that my printer would arrive on 3 February. I got it on 4 February, after my presentation had passed. My lack of home printer meant a stressful series of dashes to Fed-Ex, where computers automatically reformated my documents. Just what I had been hoping to avoid.
The product was misrepresented as being 'in stock' and I ought to have been sent an email before 20 January informing me of the probable delay, rather than having to chase the object down myself. I was a fan of Amazon in the UK but have been unimpressed by my first experience of the US version.
Good value for moneyIt's just a printer, and it does that brilliantly, the network is easy to set up and the printer as well, it's reseanable priced and it's fast.
Works fine even with Mac.We just installed this printer yesterday (10/19/2008) on our small wireless network at home. Whatever problems that previous reviewers (and Mac sites) have reported, we didn't have them. Perhaps the drivers have been updated. Included software on the CD worked perfectly from 2 desktops and 3 laptops--one of them a Mac. Yes, the Mac installation worked perfectly the first time, and printed out beautiful pages without gibberish. Excellent printer, amazingly fast.
Great once I gave up on the included driversI was having difficulty getting the printer to act as a network printer for a group of about eight workstations with the built in driver - I had similar issues with the P1006.
However, once I gave up on the included driver and selected a generic PCL5 driver - all worked well. The resulting small footprint networked printer appears to be working well for everyone now.
Great and fast printerI had an HP 5L, which was a stinkin' pile of.... Printed great, but it had the dreaded feeder problems all the 5L/6L models had.
This one seems to work great, starts up fast, seems well made.
I use a Belkin 10 ft USB cable with no problems with the length. Installation was easy.
Just a tip for installation with no instructions included: do not connect the USB cable until the software on the CD prompts it. i.e. connect the power, get all the packing material out, and shake the cartidge, then put the CD in the PC.
