HP 901 Color, Ink Cartridge

I have had this printer for awhile now and the number of pages quoted is way off everytime and that is with the HP (OEM) brand ink - tried the regular and XL both! Not to mention it seems to go thru color MUCH quicker and the black is half the price most places. Overall document printing is fine (I have been using quick draft to try to save on ink) but VERY disappointed with the pictures I have printed overall - sometimes alright, othertimes runny, grainy or splotchy or discolored like over developed film (patches of reds or yellows and darker colors gray or brown out). The one thing I have found is that U cannot truly disable the enhanced features and overspray adjustments don`t seem to work right! Which could be part of the problem in general. Also my document feeder has NEVER worked, my scanner didn`t until I found workarounds/fix and what`s up with the front panel? Buttons that aren`t really buttons... what`s the point? I liked my cheap little Canon I got at Walmart one day for $25 much better even though it appeared to have less "bells and whistles"! HP printers used to be reliable and the worst problem was different inks for EACH model and compatibility issues when trying to install new printer - system would seem to revert back to old and not unistall completely... But now it`s EVERYTHING! Maybe Compaq and HP should never have merged! LOL

Great HP 901 Tri-Color!

Product came as described and worked perfectly fine for my Office Jet 4500 all in one printer. I've ordered this exact product before and will do so again today!

Ordered and received an off brand re-manufactured refill HP ink cartridge instead of HP as stated in this order. Do not order this item unless you feel guaranteed you will receive the HP brand. I am attempting to return today.

how to mak your ink last

I bought this cheap all in one when my nice epson photo printer went out and I did not have the space for both printer and scanner, alas! I too wasted a lot of ink until my son helped me out. When you go to print, click on properites and choose fast draft, it actually makes a decent copy and uses way less ink. I also have bought refurbished ink and no problem until I bought from inkland store and they sent me a black ink cartridge only half full and the color ink cartridge ran out after about 25 copies! I will never order from them again and warn other shoppers.

Inefficient cartridge

I don't normally rate items this low, but I am shocked and disappointed in Hewlet Packard for producing this extremely poor product. I thought I was getting a good deal on the printer that takes this cartridge, but it obviously pays to research what you buy before you lay down the money. If anyone is thinking of buying a new printer or copier, make certain it does not use HP 901 cartridges. I've only been using mine for a week, and it's already low on ink. Thankfully, it's not terribly expensive, but I thought products these days were made to be more efficient. Definitely the case here.

Rip-off

There is almost nothing positive about this ink cartridge. Deceptively cheap, these ink cartridges run empty in less than 100 pages (sometimes I think it is more like 60). The manufacturer recommends using the draft mode to maximize the amount of pages you can print, but this seemed a crass response to such a poorly designed product. Why should I print in draft mode to print 100 pages or less? There is also no gradual let down when the ink runs out- it stops printing immediately, even half way through your page.

Unfortunately, I am stuck with a new printer that uses these cartridges and I have to deal. Even at $15 a cartridge, this printer ends up costing more money than my previous printer, which used cartridges that averaged between $40-50. I have to buy around 6-7 of these cartridges to make it through the year, when I previously used to buy just 1. You do the math.

This is a terrible new direction for HP, as I once saw their products as top of the line. If you are in the market for a new printer, please stay away from HP.

no as much prints as advertised, almost $1 per print plus the cost of paper electricity and printer ect very expensive

You'll be able to print 10 pages with it

Like others who have reviewed this item, it's shocking how quickly it runs out. I'm not sure if this is an HP problem, or there is a retailer that's ripping us off.

have not used the product yet, but the cartridge received was not the HP product, but it was an aftermarket re-filled ink cartridge. Very disappointed in the misleading presentation, I thought that I was buying a HP 901 cartridge.
