Lexmark 105XL Black, Ink Cartridge ^{High Yield}

XL my foot! These things run out before they are detected as being out. There is no way you are getting 500 prints from this. I print a lot and the ad for the printer that takes this cartridge said that it can print 500 pages. This is a lie, you might print 1/3. Im constantly putting new cartridges in AND there is a chip in them that prevents you from refilling them. You can refill the cartridge but it will still say it is empty and prevent you from continuing to print.

Lexmark's marketing genius.

Lexmark raised the bar for the consumer with this product. I have the Lexmark Pinnacle Pro901 All-in-One Printer and could not be happier with a printer. I have owned computers and printers over 20 years and this is the best deal to come along. Not only that but Lexmark has the best customer support out there. The ALWAYS answer the phone when you need assistance.
I wish I can give this item 7 stars....

Great value! This works for 901 series too!

For $5, you get 500 printed pages. This works in the 901 as well, even though the box doesn't say it does. This is the exact same cartridge that came with my 901. Great deal.

105XL for pro 901

Lots of confusion on 100XL and 105XL--For the Pro 901- the cartridge that came with Printer was 105XL. I purchased some 105XL cartridges and have replaced one already.
For the Pro 901-everything thing worked great,Lexmark website even shows it to be compatible.
But Amazon shows "NO this will not work for your printer" I'm sure that on other Lexmark printers you may have to change the chip. Maybe this will be helpful to someone

Review update...my machine will no longer print using 105...have to go back to 100

Update: My printer (S600) will no longer print with that chip, now reads completly empty (message pops up with "Printer will not print until the black ink cartridge is replaced" and it ain't joking!)...Poo, thought I had a good thing going. Did work for a while though!
If anyone knows a work around to this please let me know!
Going back to 100 for now. :-(
Just like everyone in previous reviews say, just swap that chip out and you have ink! You do have to really press it in to get it to click, but for 5.00...heck yeah! It will keep telling you that you have low ink, but it keeps going (so far anyway!)

But Does She Live Up to the Claims?

The price claim (penny per page) works -- if your pages are somewhat spartan and/or you use the "quick print" mode. Don't expect pages that are jam-packed with text to cost as little.

The quality of the ink is as good as it gets; the quality of printing will depend on the inkjet you use. On my Pinnacle, the ink looks great.

The ink cartridges are packed in a bit of plastic which is none too intuitive as to how to remove it, but none too difficult if you are persistent.

A couple of touchy things about the Lexmark printers, themselves (cleaning cycle uses ink, similar things common to printers of this kind) reduce the amount you can get out of each cartridge, but that is a fault with this kind of printing technology -- the cartridge, itself, delivers solidly.

As with the other reviewers I agree this is an excellent printer and value.

My only negative comment would be that the printer, when in standby, awakens each time when the phone rings - even with the FAX setup set to 'dont answer'. It would be nice if they fix that.

I can't believe this ink was this cheap. Works great despite (the 105XL confusion) Fits my S605 perfectly, Which normally takes 100XL cartridges.

Best black ink for a printer...

I actually bought the printer because of this ink. It gives your 500 pages for average 5 bucks. I have two lexmark printers that support this ink which are Lexmark Pinnacle Pro901 All-in-One Printer and the Lexmark Platinum Pro905 Business Class Wireless Multifunction Inkjet Printer with Web-Enabled Touchscreen. Worth every single penny literally. This is going to save me so much money. I had researched different brands/printers and this wasn't a hard decision to make. There were some printers that had extra features like bluetooth but the value of Lexmark beats them tenfold plus their 5 year warranty on the pro series. This ink is the best deal you can currently find. I highly recommend lexmark.
