Reviews Here is what people are saying about the Samsung CLP-620ND
Poor support

I bought this for use with a Mac. I printed out a test page and that worked fine, but the installed Smart Panel (whatever that is) won't open, and there is NO MANUAL for this. If you want to view the manual you have to go to their website and view it online. There's no way to download it. Talked to customer support and they confirmed it. I can see doing away with the hard copy, but at least make a manual that can be downloaded!

Absolutely Excellent Printer

This is a great printer for the cost. I would recommend it for anyone wanting a color printer without all that extra built-in stuff like fax and scanning. Easy to set up.
Looks a bit bigger than I thought, but that is okay. I have it in a closet and easily connected with Windows Vista and Window 7 computers. Too bad I cannot connect my iPad to it without remote software running on another PC.

Solid SOHO workhorse

I purchased this printer in July of 2010 as a replacement for my old multi-pass Minolta 2400W. While I'm a light user (I only average ~300 pages/month) my printing tends to be centered on batches of 100 pages or more which makes the speed of a laser printer a huge advantage over an inkjet. I chose the Samsung because it looked like a bargain at less than $300 for a single-pass color laser with a duplexer and the reviews at the time were good.

The reviews were right. This printer's great. It warms up quickly and spits our very high-quality prints. I use 22-pound or 24-pound paper and the duplexer isn't phased. I've put more than 2,000 pages through this and not a single jam. Colors come out bold and there's no banding. The duplexer alone is a fantastic feature if you end up printing a lot of drafts for review or if you just want to save some paper. The printer also handles heavy glossy paper well and I've used it for business cards as well without any issues.

The consumables also seem to be spot-on for their rated life. At just about 2,400 pages there's still 5% left in my "2,500 page" toner cartridge, which puts it right on spec. This gives me every reason to expect that the 5,000 page rating for the high-capacity cartridges is completely accurate, which means the toner cost is only 1.9 cents ($0.019) per page, which is better than most inkjets. It's easy to get distracted by "expensive" toner because we don't usually think about it lasting 5,000 pages, or even 2,500 pages for the smaller cartridges, but when you realize how long the toners for this will actually last, it comes out as relatively inexpensive.

The other nice thing about this printer is that it's clearly designed to have a long service life. The print drums are built into the cartridges, so you get brand-new imaging drums every time you replace a cartridge, which helps ensure consistent print quality. The fuser and the transfer belt are also user-replaceable parts which means that Samsung obviously expects this printer to keep going for a long time. Even the rollers appear to be user-replaceable.

The bottom line is that this printer produces very good prints and is designed with longevity in mind. I just don't see how it can be beaten for the price.

I Have Yet To Print A Page

This printer has not printed an entire page since we took it out of the box. It prints a half page, stops, then gives a "paper jam" message. After carefully checking all of the instructions to make sure everything was set up and installed correctly, and still unable to get a page printed, we requested a service call. A few days later, someone came, looked at the printer, told us maybe some sensors are bad; ordered new sensors. We waited a couple of weeks for the new sensors. Printer still wouldn't print. Service man came back, told us he'd been talking to Samsung about this printer and maybe he knew what was wrong with it. I watched him walk out the door carrying our printer. Waited a couple more weeks. Talked to the service man who assured us that Samsung will surely replace the printer if he can't fix it. Waited a couple more weeks. Then we were told that we can expect a new printer from Samsung. WELL, WHERE IS THE NEW PRINTER? We have no complaints about the service man, he calls us regularly. In fact, he has been far more patient than he should have to be, but we have heard nothing from Samsung. The printer was purchased by our daughter on our behalf in late December; here we are at the end of February and have still not printed a single page. The only evidence we have that we ever spent the $300 for this printer is the litter of half-printed test pages that still covers the empty printer stand in our home office. It's a nice price for a color laser printer, sure, but it's no bargain if it won't print. I am very disappointed in this printer, and in the service we have received from Samsung.

Wow!

We had a HP Color LaserJet 2600n for about 5 years and it recently started to print poorly. HP said it was a defect in the laser unit, were toner coated the mirrors and would gradually make it unusable. HP didn't want to touch it, since it was out of warranty and having a shop clean the mirrors costs almost as much as a new one.

Looking in the ads one week, I found this printer for $230 (was $400) at OfficeMax, with a $50 Visa gift card on top of that. I headed over and bought one that afternoon and I've been happy with the purchase. I love Samsung products but, I knew HP was the "king" in the area of laser printers so, I was a bit weary at first. However, after the easy network setup and installation on both a Mac and Windows 7 based PC, I had no doubt in my mind this was a good purchase. The text is sharper than the old HP I had (due to higher resolution) and the colors really pop, which was one thing that made me come back to a color laser. I had no problems with toner leaking, streaking or coming off of the pages. Granted, I have only had this for a month but, it seems to go easy on the toner. It ships with standard cartridges, not starter ones like HP now ships, that are rated for 2500 pages (black) and 2000 pages (color). High capacity cartridges are also available; 5000 pages for black and 4000 for each of the 3 colors (Cyan, Yellow and Magenta). Using high yield cartridges gets you 2 cents per B&W page or 11 cents per color page, which is considerably cheaper than an inkjet. If you print solely B&W or are a very high volume user, this is not for you. The cost for a page is around The transfer kit is also user replaceable (after a many 70,000 pages), unlike any HP Color Laser in this price range. HP just expects you to throw it out and buy a new one.

Paper handling is good and I haven't had it jam yet, while using both 20lb cheap copy paper and better 24lb HP Color LaserJet paper. The automatic duplexer also works very well and saves a lot of paper.

Overall, I think it is worth the $400 price tag but, at $180, it was a steal for me. Samsung is really making a name for themselves in everything from TVs, to appliances, to phones, and now laser printers.

Fabulous Printer!

I was tired of replacing ink jet cartridges to have them dry up on me before I could use them up, so a coworker told me about this printer. Wow, it's wonderful - I'm in IT and every requirement I wanted it had: It's networked (wired, my preference), prints duplex (both sides without user intervention), the color does not dry up! I've had it for a month in a half, and I am a home user who telecommutes 1 day per week, it's a wonderful printer. I can't say enough - and the price keeps going up, so get it while you can!

fantastic printer

Although it's significantly larger in size than the HP2015 Laser jet it replaced, this printer is fast and reliable. I have become a fan of Samsung.

Card Stock Users -- BEWARE!

I'm sending this item back before firing it up because the CARDSTOCK limitations (46 lb-59 lb) are impossible to follow. No one sells card or cover stock within the allowable poundage limitations of this item.

What a great printer

Have throughly enjoyed this printer. I purchased for my office to replace an existing Minolta, and in anticipation of a large printing project. The duplex feature saved my life, and what great, speedy, and quiet performance. Great buy.
